Zuway Horticulture Producers Cooperatives  [top]

Members: 50 Year of establishment:

Current activities: They are given inputs and working capital from vegetable traders of Addis Ababa, the merchants follows. In some cases the merchants buy vegetable under the cost of production; they don’t have any legal binding between the merchants and the association, by now unfortunately they have signed an agreement with green star agro- processing industry for supplying of 10,000 quintals of tomato, VOCA has started with them but they found to be unsuccessful association

Future plan of action: Influence the government to create enabling legal ground for contractual agreement enforcement between producers and merchants in one hand and between out growers and agro-industries, tolerate the challenges of penetrating the vegetable of Addis.

Remark: This association is under pressure of the vegetable merchants of Addis.

This is because the producers unable to penetrate the Addis vegetable market whatever the producers produce the price is dictated by the merchants (Piazza vegetable store). The association members mostly suffer from shortage of working capital and organizational unity to challenge the pressure of the merchants.
